What is Nutrition Science ?
A person needs FOOD for nourishment, development and for his Growth.
NUTRITION
Basically, Nutrition is the Science of NUTRIENTS, FOODS and Balanced Relationship between HEALTH and DISEASE. It's the Biochemical Processing of Food Substances. Scientists in Nutritional Science understand how food is digested, how food is metabolized at different stages of life and how food is absorbed. So Now, in Brief we've understood that "Nutritional Science is the Area of Knowledge about the Role of Food, in maintenance of Health".
now it comes to Nutrients, what is that? "Nutrient is a substance or ingredient that provides energy, promotes growth, and maintains life"
now we also need to understand what is Nutritional Status? "an individual's health condition as it is influenced by the intake and utilization of nutrients". {consuming sufficient and essential nutrients, sources of energy, and other food components (i.e dietary fiber)}
HEALTH
So Now we need to understand what this word 'Health' actually is?
By WHO (WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION), Health is defined by "A State of Complete Physical, Mental and Social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity".
now let's See some of The Dimensions of Health :-
Physical : it is about exercises, never skip the meals, avoid unhealthy food, and getting proper sleep etc.
Emotional : personal stress buster, Find Trustworthy people to share feelings, Managing time wisely and keeping a positive attitude.
Social : Balancing Social life and personal life, getting involved in campaigns in which you're interested in, and never involve in unhealthy relationships.
Spiritual : if you're in any religion then get involved in that by reading spiritual books and practicing it, recognizing your life, spend time with nature more than spending time with useless things.
Intellectual : need to seek for academic help, spending time with books and in libraries, take your office or school work seriously and analyse it properly.
MALNUTRITION
Excesses or Deficiencies in nutrients intake, impaired nutrient utilization or imbalance of essential nutrients. people who are either undernourished or overnourished, malnutrition occurs in them.
What is Undernutrition?
It occurs when not enough essential nutrients are consumed or when they are excreted more rapidly.
What is Overnutrition?
It occurs in people who eat too much, eat the wrong things, don't exercise enough or take too many vitamins or other dietary replacements
SYMPTOMS :-
Malnourished children are thin, bloated, listless or may be short for their age, and have weakened immune systems. Other Symptoms are Rashes, Pale/dry/thick skin, Changes in skin pigmentation, Thin hair, Soft and tender Bones, Gums bleed and Night blindness.
