ChatGPT: 'Millions' on Bing's waiting list. Here's how to get early access:

Just over a week ago, Microsoft introduced a new Bing with chat features based on the next-generation version of the OpenAI GPT-3 large language model that supports ChatGPT.
More than one million people were put on the waitlist in two days, and now Microsoft's corporate vice president and director of consumer marketing, Yusuf Mehdi, said "millions" are on the waitlist.
“There are millions of people currently on the waiting list due to high demand. So if you just joined the waitlist, please be patient with me a little,” he tweeted. Bing Chat is currently in limited preview while Microsoft is testing it publicly. Some have successfully persuaded him to reveal his code name, Sydney, and the many rules governing his responses.
Mehdi also gave fans some tips on how to get up on the waitlist.

“We prioritize people who use Bing and Edge as their default search engines and browsers and install the Bing mobile app to optimize their initial experience. We plan to make it available to all browsers over time,” said Mehdi.
Over the past 14 years, Microsoft's search engine, which has been obscured by Google searches, is receiving unprecedented attention.
Bing launched in 2009, 10 years after Google Search, and for years it was the only Microsoft product investors hated.
Mehdi didn't say how many people were in the limited preview, but said Microsoft is currently testing the "new Bing" with people in 169 countries. Emphasizing public interest in Bing's new search feature, he said Microsoft "is seeing strong engagement with new features like chat."
Microsoft says the new Bing runs on OpenAI's next-generation Large Format Language Models (LLMs) in the GPT-3 and -3.5 series, making it "more powerful than ChatGPT."
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said he would "innovate" all software, starting with "the biggest category: search." as "the biggest leap in relevance in 20 years". For this task, she developed a proprietary model called "Microsoft Prometheus" that combines with OpenAI models to produce more relevant results.
Microsoft has also updated its Edge browser with chat and created a new sidebar for Bing. Encourage users to ask open-ended questions, not keywords.
If ChatGPT ads go to Bing as a search engine, Microsoft could significantly increase its user base. In just two months, ChatGPT has amassed 100 million users and is the fastest growing app in history.
According to Statista, Bing has 1.2 billion users. However, according to Statcounter GlobalStats, Bing only accounts for about 4% of the global search market compared to Google's 92%.
